The way we speak to ourselves can quite literally shape the reality that we live in.
I was talking to someone I’m coaching last week and she told me:
“I always date men who are bad for me.”
I encouraged her to reframe this thinking to start saying “I used to date men who were bad for me.”
Small tweaks like this in the way we speak to ourselves make a big difference when it comes to reshaping our identities to embrace progress and actually choosing the life we live rather than perpetuating negative patterns from the past.
It all starts with being conscious of what we say to ourselves when we’re by ourselves, and making the decision to start rephrasing words and beliefs that hold us back.
Over time, we will mold and shape a new reality for ourselves of our own choosing. It’s about being proactive, not REactive.
Tell me in the comments: What are some areas of life where you need to work on this? Challenge yourself to spend one full week being hyper-aware of the words and phrases you use to define your circumstances to yourself, and watch the magic happen.
