Have we completely lost the value of commitment?
Everyone seems to think the next best thing will finally bring them happiness – and unfortunately we are translating this same habit into our relationships.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been dating now for 7 years and it seems that most are looking for what’s around the corner or the next best thing. It seems Loyalty, Honesty, monogamy and just old fashioned dating has been lost….I have hope but it’s frustrating.
Indeed!
Not to be old school…I appreciate the new video blog posts but I can’t watch them at work! And I don’t do much on the computer when I’m home. Bring back the written blog posts so I have something to read on my “lunch break!” Or give me some closed captions haha : )
Lookin’ good, James! 😉 And soooo well said!
My favorite line: {We’re not taking the time to cultivate the attitude and the personality that it takes to commit to something for the long term.}
Thanks for this post.

Absolutely! I am a successful attractive female and it seems most men these days have no concept of dating, chivalry, commitment — prefering hookups and fantasy through internet immersion to real life women, sadly.

I am hard of hearing and wear hearing aids…I love your blog and posts on Facebook – that is where I first found you. I would love to see CC on your videos! I do like your videos…it is a more ‘personal experience’ on your blog! I just can’t hear them 🙂 When my boyfriend of 7 years broke up with me (yet again!) in May 2016 your blog really helped me!! I continue to heal and I know that it will take time.
Have you considered that commitment isn’t a value wired into our DNA? All of life thrives with variety. In hundreds of insect species, the female kills the male after mating. The percentage of women that self-report being in affairs now approaches the percentage of men; the gap of 40% having been closed in the past four decades as women have become more honest in surveys. Ten percent of babies born in wedlock in the USA aren’t the child of the woman’s spouse. In a survey of men dying, the number one regret was not having been with more women. Your “movement” just might be in conflict with our natural biology. The value you bemoan having been lost may never have been there in the first place.
