All of us have areas of our lives that we wouldn’t exactly air publicly on social media [Though, sometimes I wonder if certain people have any boundaries] but perhaps would like to. I know there have been plenty of times when I would want to vent about something or ask people’s advice on a topic but wouldn’t feel comfortable asking random strangers, or in some cases, even friends.

Whether it goes for sharing unpopular political opinions or asking for advice on a touchy subject, I think anonymity often times provides people with a certain freedom they wouldn’t normally feel. After all, as Oscar Wilde famously said: “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.”

Particularly in the dating and relationship industry where personal privacy is paramount [intimate details usually have to be revealed before being able to give a clear opinion on an issue] there can be embarrassment or hesitancy to share, which is obviously understood.

This is one of the reasons I am a big fan of the idea behind this new app called Honestli. I just downloaded it and it is easy to use – the feed shows up similar to Instagram and you essentially have people sharing anonymous uncensored opinions on life, love, and any topic you can think of. Of course, inhibitions are thrown to the wind and people’s true thoughts come out. But, Honestli does their best to keep things civil, there don’t seem to be random trolls lurking around to ruin your day, which is a welcomed surprise in any anonymous app.

As an added incentive, if you download the app and leave a comment with your experience on this blog post, you will be entered to win a $50 gift card to iTunes or Google Play. I really do think this is a great way for us to express ourselves honestly and hopefully help some people with offering helpful advice to guide them along their journey. We all have unique experiences and outlooks on life, and this is our chance to share them with the world.

Got the App and love it. I got great advice on someone who I felt is not responsive in my attempts to court her. Thanks for the app recommendation.
