Here is a concept you may have come across before. Think of this for a second…picture your bank account being credited with $86,400…every single morning.

But, at the end of each day, it resets back to zero and you get another $86,400 to start the next morning all over again.

value8

What would you do? Would you only use half of the money and let the rest go to waste, only to disappear at midnight? Or would you make sure you used every last penny and made it count? My guess is, you would want to make the absolute best of what you were given.

Can’t you picture yourself trying frantically to figure out the best ways to maximize the value of each dollar by the end of the day, so none of it would go to waste?

Now what if you suddenly realized – you are given this value every single day – but not in dollars. Every single day contains 86,400 seconds of time, the use of which, is up to you.

At the end of each day, the clock is reset and starts all over again – the previous day’s time is gone, never to be seen again, you only get one chance to use it.

86,400 seconds a day. 604,800 seconds a week. 31,449,600 seconds every single year. Nobody has any more, or any less time. The happiest and/or most successful people ever to live had the same exact amount of time given to them as you do. The only difference between any of us is how we choose to use our share of it.

value7

Because of this, your time is extremely valuable. It’s the arguably your greatest asset. Who you choose to spend it with and what you choose to do with it, is more important than who and what you spend your money on.

Your time is a gift that you get to choose the recipients of. Giving someone the gift of your time is the most valuable gift you can give for this very reason – money you spend on someone can be gotten back, but the time you spend with them cannot.

When you start realizing that your supply is not endless, it is much easier to raise your standards when deciding who you want to spend your valuable hours with. The next time you feel like someone isn’t treating you the way you deserve or a situation isn’t helping you grow or progress in life, remember this:

If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of. – Bruce Lee

Life can easily become frantic, and crazy, and a little unpredictable – but we owe it to ourselves to slow it down every now and then and just enjoy it. To enjoy each other, to enjoy what we have worked so hard to achieve. To pause in the middle of chasing after the elusive happiness we all crave, and just…be happy.

We have to pause every now and then, take a look at the time that we do have, and ask ourselves one simple question…

The question is – how are you going to use it?
