Life is about balance. A balance between work and social life. A balance between saving money and enjoying yourself. A balance between eating healthy and having that extra slice of pizza. And, a balance between partners in a relationship.

balance1

I feel as though many times, we hear that ‘opposites attract.’ Either that or we talk about the importance of similar traits we share with our significant other. While I do think both of these things are important, we cannot stray too far in either direction.

To love a woman who balances you out is to open yourself up to new views of the world. Dating someone who is too much like you could prevent growth or forward motion. Dating someone who is too much of an opposite could create tension when the two of you approach life in completely different ways.

To love a woman who balances you out will keep life interesting. She will surprise you and hold your attention rather than someone who is too predictable because she is basically the female version of you.

To love a woman who balances you out will keep you on your game. You will have intellectually stimulating conversations about things that actually matter in the world, and not just vapid discussions to fill empty space.

To love a woman who balances you out will introduce you to new hobbies. Hobbies that she has developed before she met you that you may have never considered trying.

To love a woman who balances you out will make you feel accepted. You understand that you have differences but you use them as building blocks rather than stumbling blocks. You understand the importance of appreciating your similarities and respecting your unique viewpoints.

To love a woman who balances you out will make you want to continue learning. A clear sign of a healthy relationship is when the simple presence of your partner in your life makes you want to become the best version of yourself – both for you and for her.

To love a woman who balances you out will keep you grounded. I can only speak for myself on this one, but I tend to be a little George Clooney while my girlfriend tends to be more Amal Clooney. She is always supportive and will be there when I need/want her to be, but she does not pursue or have any interest in the limelight herself. This helps me keep things in perspective and my shoes firmly planted on the ground of reality.

balance2

To love a woman who balances you out will bring a new energy to your life. While she pursues her own goals and passions, it will fuel your fire to do the same. Great relationships are a team, and any successful team requires the members to focus on and develop their own strengths – then, bring these strengths together and figure out how to best collaborate in order to win the game [of life].

To love a woman who balances you out will keep you in check. Let’s be honest, guys – sometimes we need a little help staying organized, keeping the apartment clean, or remembering we have to get a gift for our baby cousin’s birthday. A woman who balances you out will bring practicality and stability to your life. Not to say you couldn’t figure it out on your own, but hey, there is no shame in getting a little help sometimes.

A woman who balances you out will ultimately give you the opportunity to live and love more deeply, because the two of you fit together like puzzle pieces. Pieces that gradually come together and create a picture that looks like it was whole to begin with.
